An Ulster County woman is accused of stealing a high school diploma, changing the name, and using it as her own.

I don't know much about history, don't know much biology, don't know much about a science book, don't know much about the French I took, but I do know you have to earn your diploma.(And the lyrics to this 1960s classic!)

Police say 28-year-old Christina Valderez of New Paltz was arrested after she produced a forged high school equivalency diploma.

As authorities investigated further, they allege that Valderez stole the diploma from another person and altered it to include her name. She was charged with forgery and criminal possession of a forged instrument, felonies, and filing a false written instrument, a misdemeanor.

Valderez was held pending arraignment in the Town of New Paltz Justice Court.
Deputies were assisted by the Ulster County Probation Department and the NYS Education Department.
