Police: Ulster County Man Found with 200 Decks of Heroin, Loaded Gun, More

An Ulster County man who’s been arrested three times in the past month was sent to jail without bail on 10 felony counts.

On Friday around 7 p.m., 51-year-old Prince A. Ellis of Kingston was arrested after being indicted on multiple drug charges.

Earlier this year members of Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) received information about heroin sales in and around the City of Kingston and opened an independent investigation into Ellis.

In April, members of URGENT executed a search warrant at Ellis’s home. A search revealed a loaded 9mm semiautomatic handgun, over two hundred decks of heroin and four thousand dollars cash, police say. Ellis appeared in court and was released.

On May 9, the Ulster County Court issued an indictment warrant for Ellis’s arrest. While he was taken into custody, more heroin was allegedly found at his Kingston home.

Ellis was charged with three-counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, four-counts criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, promoting prison contraband and criminal possession of a firearm, all felonies.

Ellis was sent to Ulster County Jail without bail.

The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police, Village of Ellenville Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
