Police conducted a welfare check on a vehicle that was parked on the shoulder with hazard lights illuminated and it resulted in two arrests. 

At approximately 1:30 am Wednesday, Troopers from the Poughkeepsie barracks conducted a welfare check on the occupants of a Nissan parked on the shoulder of Dutchess Turnpike with hazard lights illuminated.

While interviewing the occupants of the vehicle, Troopers detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Subsequent to a lawful search of the vehicle, Troopers discovered a Armscor revolver.

Neither party possessed a permit to carry the firearm.

Jada E. Christiani, 21 and Christian Parker, 22 both of Poughkeepsie were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth-degree.

Both were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Poughkeepsie court later this month.
