The search is on for a Beacon man suspected of drowning in the Hudson River this afternoon.

According to the Hudson Valley News Network, the 46-year-old was swimming at Little Sandy Beach in Hudson Highlands State Park just after 4pm in an area not supervised by lifeguards. He began having difficulty and went under water before anyone could get to him.

Local authorities are searching the river and shoreline in the area. The name of the suspected victim is not being released at this time.
