Jacqueline Eide was reportedly bitten by the tiger at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo after she reached into its cage. Police say Eide appeared to be either drunk, high on drugs or both at the hospital,. Police also said that she was “aggressive toward staff” there. Police said Eide suffered “severe trauma” to her left hand.

The Henry Doorly Zoo said in a press release that Eide was bitten by an 18-year-old Malayan tiger named Mai. According to the Omaha Zoo Foundation, the tiger was rescued from the wild and has three legs, and has been at the zoo since 2003.

Eide was charged with criminal trespass.The zoo said a second person also trespassed, but it’s not yet known if that person was also charged.

The incident remains under investigation
