Police: S.C. Man Found With Loaded Gun, Drugs in Dutchess County
A South Carolina man is accused of driving with a loaded unregistered gun and drugs in Dutchess County.
On Monday, State Police from Rhinebeck pulled over a vehicle on State Route 199. Police say they pulled over 40-year-old James P. Collins of Piedmont, S.C. after he was spotted exiting the Taconic State Parkway towing a trailer.
As authorities investigated, they allege that Collins was in possession of marijuana and a loaded unregistered 9mm Rugar handgun.
Collins was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and given a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.
Collins was arraigned in the Town of Milan Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. He is due in Milan Court on Oct. 6.
