Local police saved a Hudson Valley man’s life from an apparent overdose after he was found unconscious in the driver’s seat of his car following an accident.

On Sunday around 1:15 p.m, Town of Lloyd Police responded to a report of a personal injury auto accident in the parking lot of the Tractor Supply store in Bridgeview Plaza in Highland.

Arriving officers found the driver still seated behind the wheel unconscious and unresponsive. The unnamed 26-year-old from Clintondale was overdosing from heroin, police say.

Lloyd Police administered Naloxone (Narcan), medicine that is proven to reverse the effects of a heroin overdose, and revived him.

The 26-year-old was transported by Mobil Life Ambulance to Mid- Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

Sadly heroin overdoses have become all too common in the Hudson Valley. Luckily a number local police officers are equipped with Narcan and have saved a number of residents.
