Police: Poughkeepsie Man Charged With Rape

Man claiming to be a federal officer, accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Poughkeepsie.  

Early Sunday morning, 911 was notified of a sexual assault that occurred near 617 Main Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.

The victim, a 47-year old female city resident, reported that she had been stopped by a man who identified himself as being a federal officer.

The victim was taken to the rear of 617 Main Street where allegedly the male sexually assaulted her.

Officers stopped a male, later identified as Harold Bruno, 24, of Poughkeepsie, in the area who matched the description the victim gave of her attacker.

The victim identified Bruno as the man who attacked her.

Bruno was charged with Rape first-degree, and Criminal impersonation first-degree, both felonies.

Bruno was arraigned and remanded to Dutchess County Jail.
