An Orange County man was allegedly found driving on I-87 in the Hudson Valley with drugs and a weapon.

On Wednesday just before 3 a.m., New York State Police stopped a vehicle on the New York State Thruway in the town of New Windsor for an alleged vehicle and traffic violation.

While interviewing the driver of the vehicle in regards to the traffic violation a probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants were established, police say.

The driver, Justin F. Shutts, 24, of Rock Tavern was allegedly found to be in possession of approximately 1.5 grams of cocaine and a switchblade knife.

Shutts was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor and an undisclosed vehicle and traffic violation.

Shutts was arraigned before the Town of New Windsor Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $3,000 bond.
