An Alabama woman who was caught shoplifting eggs, did not leave in handcuffs or receive a court date.

Thanks to police officer William Stacy, the woman left with the food for her family. Officer Stacy responded to a call from store employees that a woman was caught trying to steal a dozen eggs.

When he arrived a the store, the woman told the officer she was only trying to steal the eggs to feed her children, who she had waiting in the car.

The officer talked to the store and they agreed not to prosecute, so he made the woman an offer. The officer said: "If I give you these eggs, will you promise that you won't shoplift anymore?"

The officer knew she was telling the truth and that's why he decided to purchase the eggs for her.

When he returned with the eggs, he gave them to the woman, and she asked if she could give him a hug....He allowed her to.

Another customer of the store caught the exchange of the eggs and the hug on video.

This is a great story about an officer helping out a woman in need. I wish more of these stories popped up more often.
