Police say a young child was injured after a man attacked another man and later pushed an air conditioner out of a window.

According to Saugerties Police, Monday around 3:45 a.m., 42-year-old Samuel Degroat, Jr., of Purling, banged on the victims door located on Pine Tree Lane in Saugerties.

When the victim opened the door, Degroat pulled the victim out of the house and attempted to attack an adult male inside of the home.

During the altercation, Degroat allegedly pushed an air conditioner unit out of a living room window. The air conditioner injured an 11-year-old child.

The child suffered an undisclosed minor injury, officials say.

Degroat was charged with 2 counts of harassment, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal mischief. He was arraigned in Town of Saugerties Court and released on $500 bail.
