An intoxicated man drove a van into a building while in route to another bar. 

At approximately 9:00 pm Sunday, City of Newburgh Police responded to the area of 778 Broadway for a report of a van being driven into the building.

Upon arrival officers located the driver, identified as Jack Shaw, 72, of San Leandro, California.

Shaw stated to officers that he had been coming from Billy Joe's Ribworks on Front Street, and was on his way to Hurricane Grill & Wings.

Following the accident investigation, Mr. Shaw was arrested and charged with two counts of Driving While Intoxicated as well as counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation and Suspended Registration.

It is alleged that Mr. Shaw had a B.A.C. of .11%, according to a press release.

Shaw was held pending arraignment on Monday.
