An Ulster County man was arrested twice in the same day, at the same Putnam County gas station.

John Tarr, 35, of Marlboro, was arrested at the Shell gas station by state police. He was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a felony, and petit larceny, third-degree criminal trespass and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors, as reported by lohud.

The first arrest came around 9 a.m., when police responded to a larceny complaint. Upon arrival, officers found that Tarr, had tried to leave the store with scratch off lottery tickets, hiding them in his pocket.

He was taken to the barracks, received an appearance ticket, and he was released.

Later in the day, police were called back to the same gas station by employees, claiming they saw Tarr, which he was told not to return to the store, and he took a box of cigarettes out of the trash can.

Officers watched Tarr try to conceal the cigarette box. He allegedly had Suboxone and Xanex, which he tossed in a trash can to avoid additional charges.

He was remanded to Putnam County jail on $2,500 bond, or $750 cash.
