You'd think with what the Hudson Valley has been through recently with out of control fires, and the damage they cause, that people would know better.

According to the Times Herald Record, an 18-year-man has been arrested for allegedly starting brush fires. State Police at Wurtsboro arrested and charged the Wurtsboro teen with two counts of arson, misdemeanors, with several similar pending charges.

The New York State Police and the New York State Forest Rangers had been conducting the ongoing investigation before the arrest. The Times Herald Record reports that both agencies determined that someone had intentionally set several brush fires in and around the Town of Mamakating between mid-April and mid-May.

The suspect's identity is currently being withheld due to his eligibility for Youthful Offender status. The suspect was arrested and processed at SP Wurtsboro and released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Mamakating Court.
