A Poughkeepsie man has been arrested after he allegedly burglarized a home during a domestic dispute while drunk.

Well, if you have a suspended driver's license because of a pending DWI charge, it's probably not a wise idea to drive while drunk and then burglarize a home.

On Thursday, Troopers responded to a LaGrange residence for a reported domestic disturbance.

An investigation indicated that Brendan P. McGrath, 42 of Poughkeepsie, NY forcibly entered the victim's home. Troopers also learned that McGrath had driven to the victim's home while he was intoxicated, and had suspended driving privileges due to a pending DWI charge from October 2016.

McGrath was arrested and charged with:

  • Burglary - second-degree, a Felony
  • Criminal Mischief - third-degree. a Felony
  • Driving While Intoxicated, a Felony
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, a Felony

McGrath was arraigned in the Town of LaGrange Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail lieu of $2,500 cash bail, or $5,000 bond.

McGrath is scheduled to be back in court early next week.
