According to police, the man started an intimate relationship with the child earlier this year.

On September 20, the State Police in conjunction with the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center arrested Marvin R. Vasquez Morales, 21, of Copake, N.Y. for Rape second-degree (felony), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On Setember 12, 2018, information was provided to the Columbia County Child Advocacy Center about the possible rape of a child in Copake.

An investigation revealed that Morales and the thirteen-year-old were familiar with one another. The began an intimate relationship this year resulting in sexual contact.

Morales was arraigned in the Town of Clermont Court and remanded to Columbia County Jail without bail. He is schedule to return to court next week.
