The issue of fraternity and sorority hazing has once again made the news, and this time it's right in our own state. Two Syracuse University fraternity members have been charged for an outdoor hazing stunt that could cost a pledge four of his fingers due to frostbite, say police.

The Times Herald Record reports three young men pledging the Nu Alpha Phi fraternity were taken to a park around midnight on Saturday. The Syracuse Police Department says the pledges were to made to do strenuous exercises, including push-ups and crawling in the snow, while not wearing gloves. After about 30 minutes, the pledges were given hand warmers told to walk back to the frat house, according to reports.

One of the pledges experienced extreme pain in his hands and went to a hospital on Sunday. Doctors told him he may lose his ring and pinkie fingers on both hands because of severe frostbite. The Times Herald Record says that police arrested two Nu Alpha Phi frat members and charged them with hazing. The fraternity has been suspended by Syracuse University.
