According to the recordonline, a Kingston man is being charged with Promoting a Suicide Attempt, a felony. Kingston police responded to a welfare call Monday morning. The reporting family member was concerned about the welfare of 62 year old man named Paul Egan, and another resident. Officers say after knocking on the door and several windows, Egan finally responded

The police detected a strange odor when the door opened, later determined to be exhaust from a furnace that contained carbon monoxide. Kingston Police say Egan indicated to them that another person was in the home. Police say that after an investigation it was revealed that Egan had disconnected a boiler exhaust pipe and turned on a gas generator. Officers later dragged a 59-year-old woman, who was overcome by carbon monoxide, out of the residence.  She was taken by emergency services personnel to Kingston Hospital then later transferred to Jacobi Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition.
