Police have charged 19 students, 18 of them girls, in connection to a brawl that broke out at an upstate New York high school.

Authorities announced the arrests on Wednesday, following an investigation into a big fight that broke out last week at Elmira High School, as reported by CBS 6.

The fight occurred in the main lobby of the high school, and according to police, the brawl appeared to be planned. The huge brawl led to the school being placed on a lockdown.

School officials and police reviewed security camera footage, as well as videos that were recorded on student's personal devices and posted on social media.

The students, 18 girls and one boy between the ages of 15 and 18, were arrested. The charges include riot and disorderly conduct.
