UPDATE: According to a Town of Ulster Police update, the stolen pit bull, Blue, has been found dead close to the location of the theft. This is now being investigated as a cruelty to animals case.

Police had been searching for a pit bull stolen from a resident on North Drive in the Town of Ulster early Sunday morning. The Daily Freeman reports there was a second pit bull involved in the incident who was injured as the theft occurred around 6:30AM. The second dog received what appears to be a stab wound to it's hind quarter, it was not a life threatening injury.

Blue was adopted on Oct. 12, 2014 from the Saugerties Rescue Center, according to the Town of Ulster Police Department.
