While the Hudson Valley was hit with it's first real cold blast, other parts of the state experienced even worse winter conditions. A lake-effect snow storm hit areas around Buffalo with high winds, while dumping over three feet of snow in some parts of Western New York. Reports indicate a 132 mile stretch of the NYS Thruway was closed due to wind blown snow, as state troopers were forced to deliver blankets and supplies to motorists stranded. The National Weather Service has warned that as much as six feet of snow could fall in parts of western and northern New York by the middle of the week. Read More Here
