UPDATE

Parts of 9W in Newburgh were closed Monday after reports of an alleged gunman in an office building on Robinson Avenue.

Turns out, there was never a gunman.

The Times Herald says that workers inside the building called to report hearing a man’s voice threatening people with a gun.

City and Town of Newburgh police, along with SWAT teams quickly arrived and stormed the building and ordered all employees out. After blocking traffic and searching the parameter, police discovered the actual source of the threat.

The Robinson Avenue office also is home to a production company. An individual in the office happened to be doing voiceover work Monday afternoon. Parts of the work involved a script where the speaker threatened to kill someone with a gun.

The voiceover workers had left just before police showed up.

Police have not released any names.
