A parolee led police on a vehicle pursuit reaching speeds in excess of 100 m.p.h. 

Monticello Police arrested Jason Bermudez, 35, of the Bronx on Thursday. Detectives observed Bermudez in a Land Rover attempting to solicit a female who was walking.

Detectives identified themselves and approached Bermudez to interview him. While talking with detectives Bermudez was observed placing an unknown item down his pants.

When detectives asked Bermudez to exit the vehicle, he closed the windows to the vehicle and sped off a high rate of speed.

A vehicle pursuit then ensued with Bermudez reaching speeds in excess of 100 m.p.h.

Bermudez attempted to cut through a CITGO convenience store parking lot at his high rate of speed, and collided with 2006 Ford Fusion operated by 38-year old Monticello woman, causing her to sustain a leg injury and totaling her vehicle.

Bermudez was then taken into custody without incident.

A search of Bermudez revealed he was in possession of 18 grams of heroin, and 44 grams of crack cocaine in his pants.

Bermudez was charged with 4 counts of felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Sunstance, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, among multiple vehicle and traffic tickets.

Bermudez was also charged with Violation of Parole. He is currently on parole in NYS until 2/2/20 for a prior felony conviction for Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Additional Charges are pending
