An Orange County man was found possessing over one pound of marijuana, after running a stop sign.  

On Friday, Orange County Sheriff's Deputies observed a vehicle drive through a stop sign, and stop past the crosswalk inside the intersection.

Deputies conducted a vehicle stop.

During the stop it was discovered that the operator of the vehicle, identified as Augustus Burks, 27 of Newburgh was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

Subsequently deputies observed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and found two Ziplock bags containing approximately 16.3 ounces of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.

Burks was charged with Possession of Marijuana second-degree (Felony), and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation third-degree.

Burks was arraigned and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, $7,500 bond.

He is due back in court this week.
