A Middletown man suffered a stab wound to the chest during a parking lot fight. 

On Thursday, at approximately 7:43 p.m. Middletown Police responded to a report of a fight in progress.

Police officers arrived on the scene and located a 22-year old man in the parking lot of the Sunoco Gas Station on Wickman Avenue, suffering from a single stab wound to the chest.

Officers located the source of the bleeding in the victim's chest and performed emergency life-saving  medical care to the victim, who was later identified as Korei Mason-Briggs of Middletown.

The victim was then transported to Orange Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for his injury.

He is currently listed in stable condition.

An investigation revealed the victim and a known associate engaged in an altercation. During the fight, the male suspect stabbed the victim in the chest with what is believed to be a knife.

The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police are searching for the suspect, but his identity is being withheld at this time as police complete their investigation.
