An Orange County man will spend a decent about of time in jail for robbing a drug store.

On Monday in Orange County Court, 28-year-old Romain Brown of Middletown was sentenced to 10 years in state prison and five years post-release supervision.

On June 23, 2016, Brown plead guilty to robbery. In court, he admitted he stole money from a Rite Aid Pharmacy located on Fulton Street in the City of Middletown. Brown threatened two female employees with a knife. When one employee tried to call police he cut telephone cord with his knife.

Brown was later found by Middletown Police with cash from the store and the knife.

“Our community will be safer during the decade that this defendant is in state prison”, David M. Hoovler stated. “The threatened use of a weapon, whether it is a gun or a knife, can have life-altering consequences to victims. Those who go to work are entitled to be safe from threats of violence. My office will seek severe sentences against those who possess and threaten the use of deadly weapons.”
