Officials are actively looking for a missing Newburgh teenage girl.

Amina Atelek, 15, from Newburgh was last seen on Sept. 16, 2015. Amina, who may go by the nickname Mina, could be in the local Newburgh area but also may have traveled to Brooklyn or Queens, officials say.

According to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Amina ran away from her Orange County home. She has a tattoo of a cross on her left hand, "SUR" on her right shoulder blade, a rose on her left arm, and "loyalty" on her right arm.

Officials describe her as a 5’3” 120 pound white female with brown hair and brown eyes. However, when Amina was last seen, she had blonde highlights in her hair.

If you’ve seen Amina or know where she may be, please contact the Newburgh City Police Department or the state Missing Persons Clearinghouse hotline at (800) 346-3543.

Leads can also be e-mailed to missingpersons@dcjs.ny.gov.

On Monday, the New York State Public Safety reminded the public of Amina in hopes it helps develop new leads and return the teen to her home.
