A huge fire has destroyed an Edgewater, New Jersey luxury apartment complex, displacing its residents including New York Yankees radio announcer John Sterling.

The blaze started Wednesday afternoon at the Avalon on the Hudson. The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m., and the 408-unit building was quickly evacuated. Thankfully, there are no reports of death or injuries.

Sterling was said to have remained calm and has received an outpouring of support from friends, fans and colleagues. He released the following statement to the NY Daily News:

It’s simply amazing how many people found out about this fire. How many people were worried, how many called to see if you are doing OK and tell you they love you.

You know, we can all relate to having our own safe existence, and what it could mean if that’s taken away. At least I know I’m safe tonight. I don’t have a toothbrush, but I’m safe.
