In 2014, Draven Rodriguez was featured in such publications as the Huffington Post, BuzzFeed and USA Today. His fight with his principal over wanting to pose for his senior pic with his cat Mr Bigglesworth (complete with a laser light backdrop) even drew a mention on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

The school never let the photo be published in the yearbook, but Rodriguez was able to reach a compromise with High School Principal Diane Wilkinson. Principal Wilkinson agreed to pose in a separate photo of the same style with Rodriguez, Mr. Bigglesworth and her dog,  The picture would be featured on the principal’s own page, with a message promoting animal rescue and adoption. Both were later recognized by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady.
