Schenectady High School senior Draven Rodriguez isn't afraid to be different. And by different, we mean he wants his senior yearbook official picture to include background laser lights...and his pet cat, Mr Bigglesworth. See PIC HERE

Rodriguez says

“I don’t want to go in the yearbook with the generic ‘I-look-like-everyone-else’ photo. I wanted a ‘He looks great. Only he would try that’ photo. When people look at it, they will know that was me.”

“I’m a little out there and a little tongue-in-cheek. Cats and lasers . . . sarcastic. It’s so outlandish and ridiculous.”

So some kid wants some 80's retro chic looking picture with his cat and some lasers for his senior yearbook photo? Seems pretty silly and harmless, right?  Well, Schenectady High School doesn't look at it like that.

School district spokeswoman Karen Corona says

"That will not appear in the portrait section. There are other places in the yearbook where those photos can be placed. It doesn’t mean the photo won’t be in the yearbook. It just means it won’t be in the section where the more professional photos are."

Rogriguez has created a social media petition page to support his cause. He claims he doesn't want to raise too much of a fuss about it though, and that he has a backup pic if needed. The backup photo still includes his cat, though. That part he says he won't compromise about.
