All police had to do was follow the trail. And by trail, we mean a trail of macaroni salad. Three Livingston County men allegedly robbed a Build A Burger Sunday morning. Upon their escape into the woods, the trio apparently grew hungry and decided to snack on the macaroni salad they just stole. Police say that the three men had stolen a large bowl of the salad and took turns eating it while making their getaway

Police, say the alleged robbers also dropped other stolen items along the way including a cash register, loose change, surveillance equipment and a glove. The NY Daily News reports that police arrived at the Mt Morris restaurant Sunday morning, and quickly spotted the debris on a nature walk that leads to a wooded area behind the eatery. Livingston Police say the officers followed the path of evidence which eventually led to the arrest of the three suspects Sunday afternoon.

Police arrested 34 year-old Matthew P. Sapetko of Mt. Morris, 35 year-old James P. Marullo of Mt. Morris, and 23 year-old Timothy S. Walker Jr of Idaho. All three were charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and grand larceny. Walker is also charged with possession of a controlled substance and a hypodermic instrument, according to police.
