Gov. Andrew Cuomo and state officials plan to invest $72 million to aid 60 parks and historic sites.

The announcement comes during Earth Week which is all  part of Cuomo's "NY Parks 2020 Plan," a $900 million dollar investment of public and private funds into the facilities by 2020.

This will include parks in the Hudson Valley, as well as the Southern Tier, and Finger Lakes. Some 62 million people annually visit New York's 180 state parks and 35 historic sites.

The Walkway Over The Hudson State Park in Poughkeepsie is reportedly getting $2.1 million in funds, including deck repairs, and improvements to new parkland at the east park entrance. Lohud reports that $1.8 million will go to walkway railing maintenance. Other Hudson Valley locations such as Minnewaska State Park, Mills-Norrie, Bear Mountain, Harriman, and James Baird will also see funding for renovation and repair.
