NY Man Arrested for Allegedly Tampering With Red Light Cameras Refuses to Apologize

A New York man said that he thinks red light cameras are an abuse of government and now he is taking a stand. Even being arrested hasn't changed his mind one bit.

The Times Herald Record says that 42 year-old Stephen Ruth is free on $3,000 bail after being arrested on charges of criminal tampering and obstruction of governmental administration. So what exactly happened?

Police said they arrested the Centereach man Tuesday after he posted online video of himself tampering with several red light cameras. He allegedly tampered with a camera near a Long Island Expressway exit and several other locations.

Ruth said he knew he would be arrested, but said it is a cause he is willing to fight for. This isn't his first run in with the law over this issue. Ruth claims he has received six tickets for red light camera violations.

Suffolk County officials did not immediately comment.
