NJ Man Calls 911 For Ride To The Store, Gets Arrested Instead
Apparently, 56 year old Kurt Smith was never told that 911 was for emergencies only. Police say that Smith made the call to 911 over the weekend about a disorderly person at motel in Southhampton, NJ. When officials arrived, Smith later stated that there wasn't an emergency and that he simply needed a lift to the local convenience store. Smith did not get to go on his trip to store, and instead was arrested and charged with causing a false public alarm.
A judge set Smith's bail at $20,000, according to police.
