Newest Hudson Valley Food Craze: Wacky Waffles

We're always on the lookout for the next big food craze in the Hudson Valley, and we think we've found it.

What's the latest menu item that will have Hudson Valley foodies lined up down the block? It looks like it's going to be the Wacky Waffle. The brainchild of Jennifer and Bobby from Sweetbakes Cafe in the Village of Wappingers Falls has done something we never thought possible: make waffles even better.

The unique dessert starts with a waffle on a stick and adds chocolate ganache and your choice of toppings. There's everything form crumbled chocolate chip cookies to fruity pebbles to Oreos and more. Jennifer says she and Bobby are still adding available toppings that will change based on availability.

If you want to try one of these sought-after desserts before the word gets out to the rest of the Hudson Valley, the grand opening of Sweetbakes is this Saturday, June 23 at 2689 West Main Street in the Village of Wappingers Falls.

Waffle fans that want something a little more savory than sweet can also drop by the cafe for their innovative lunch menu that incorporates waffles into dishes like pulled pork and chicken.

Jenny is known to the local area for the incredibly intricate cakes she makes for special occasions and celebrations. Her at-home business will now also move to the cafe. Customers can stop by for lunch, coffee, pastries and more starting on Saturday.
