Commuters have been driving past the area's newest Dunkin' Donuts building for months, wondering when it would open.

Well, that day has finally arrived.

On Wednesday morning at 5:00 am the doors officially opened at the Dunkin' Donuts on Route 9D in Wappingers Falls. This is now the third Dunkin' location in Wappingers Falls, with two other stores located on Route 9. In fact, there are now over 10 Dunkin' Donuts locations within a five-mile radius of Wappingers Falls,

Dunkin' Donuts stores have been popping up all over the Hudson Valley over the past few years. Donuts used to be made on-site, but because of the increased number of stores, they're now baked at a central kitchen and trucked to each store fresh each morning. Other items such as croissants and bagels are still made on premises.

The newest Dunkin' Donuts is located right next to Stewart's on 9D, which used to have a monopoly on serving fresh coffee to local commuters in the area. It's unclear what impact the new competitor will have on their foot traffic.
