A Newburgh man was arrested with over $2,000 worth of marijuana. Police say some of the weed was dipped in PCP.

Following a community complaint of outdoor drug dealing, members of the City of Newburgh Anti-Crime Unit began surveilling the area of Carpenter Avenue near Broadway and Third Street. On Sunday around 4:30 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop of a gray Hyundai Sonata near 205 South Street.

At the time the driver, 30-year-old Daniel Gray, of Newburgh allegedly excited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers pursued on foot through backyards and over fences before taking Gray into custody.

A search warrant of the vehicle yielded a digital scale, drug packaging material, and 184 grams of packaged marijuana. Police say around 10 grams of weed had been dipped in and tested positive for PCP. $915 was seized from Gray.

Gray was charged with 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, 5th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and criminal possession of marijuana, misdemeanors, and a number of vehicle and traffic violations.
