The New York Yankees received an extra day of preparation for the 2016 season.

For the first time since 2008, a Yankees' season home opener was postponed due to inclement weather as a cold rain fell in the Bronx.

Temperatures will struggle to reach the lower 40s at Yankee Stadium today, but the rain and snow have finally moved out of the region.

The Yankees are looking to avenge their American League wildcard loss to the Houston Astros, as Masahiro Tanaka will take the mound against the Astros' Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel torched the Yankees last year in each of the three occasions he faced them.

Age and injuries are two big factors facing the Yankees as they enter the new season. A new ticketing policy will go into effect today, as the team will no longer accept print-at-home tickets. According to the NY Times, only standard hard-copy tickets and mobile tickets displayed on cellphones will be allowed.

First pitch will be at 1:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.
