Robert Cantor was attending a New York Rangers game with his young son nearly three years ago when he was injured trying to shield his son from a flying puck.

Now, he is not only suing the team, but Madison Square Garden, and the National Hockey Leagues as well for unspecified damages.

Cantor and his son were at the Garden on March 3, 2013, watching the Rangers and Buffalo Sabres. According to Eitan Ogen, Cantor's lawyer, a shot by the Rangers was deflected by a Buffalo player causing the puck to fly over the protective plexiglass. According to the NY Daily News, the puck was about hit Cantor's son's face when he stuck his left hand out to block the projectile.

The puck struck his hand, causing a torn tendon and wrist injuries that required surgery. Cantor also hurt his right shoulder where he tore his right rotator cuff and labrum.

His lawyer said this could have been prevented had there not been a dip in the protective glass. The dip is there to allow cameras crews to shoot the games.

Cantor and his son were seated mid rink, where there is no netting unlike the far ends of the rink.
