On Wednesday Governor Cuomo signed a bill into law that designates one snack food as the "official" snack food of New York State. No, it's not pizza, pretzels or Mallomars... even though 70% of all Mallomar Cookies are consumed in our area alone.

ABC News reports that yogurt... (yes, yogurt!) is now the official snack of New York. Why? Well, our state is the number one producer of yogurt in the country, producing 741 million pounds of the bacteria-infected dairy treat just last year. Some may argue that yogurt isn't really a "snack food," but that didn't stop a western New York 4th grade class from making the nomination.

New York's heated political debate over whether to give yogurt it's official designation became an easy target earlier in the year for the likes of David Letterman and Jon Stewart:
