46 year old New Windsor resident Gregory Hines was indicted on felony charges, Wednesday, for allegedly siccing his dog on a police officer.

Police say the man was indicted on felony charges of second-degree assault, weapon possession and aggravated animal cruelty as well as misdemeanor resisting arrest, and Agricultural and Market Law misdemeanor charges of animal fighting and overdriving, torturing and injuring animals. He was also indicted on a count of disorderly conduct, a violation.

A resident had called the police on Hines. When two officers arrived, they found Hines and his 80 pound pit bull terrier outside. Hines became confrontational and then allegedly sicced the dog on one of the officers, forcing the officer to shoot the dog in the head, as it bit him in the upper leg.
