Just months after Toys R Us closed their doors for good, another toy store is opening up in its place.

Party City announced this summer that they would be opening up 50 toy stores across the country to fill the hole in the market after Toys R Us went out of business. The Rock Father Magazine has discovered the list of locations for the toy stores, and one of them is right here in our area.

Party City will open the pop-up toy stores in coordination with some of their Halloween City stores. The stores will be a combination costume shop/toy store until the end of October and then transition to a dedicated toy store through the holiday shopping season.

So far, six New York Toy City locations have been announced and one of them is planned for Middletown, New York. Toy City is scheduled to open up at 88 Dunning Road in Middletown, which is the same shopping plaza where Toys R Us has sat vacant for the past few months.

Toy City will be taking over several old Toys R Us stores throughout the country, and more may be on the way. Not all of the locations have been revealed yet, so there is still hope that toys may once more fill the shelves in Kingston and Poughkeepsie, even if it is just for the holiday season.

What do you think about Party City's plan to try and bring back toy stores to the Hudson Valley? Will you shop there this holiday season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
