A new racing team will operate out of Poughkeepsie after local entrepreneur and driver Chris Dyson announced the launch of CD Racing last week. According to a press release, the new team will focus on his personal driving and won't have anything to do with his role as driver and executive on the Dyson Racing Team.

The new team will field a Ford Mustang in the 2018 Trans Am Championship class and will operate out of Dyson Racings' Poughkeepsie facility. Dyson brings some experience to the new team as he is a two time American Le Mans Series champ. He started thinking about launching his own team after taking part in a race last summer at Watkins Glen. Dyson had this to say.

I’ve watched the Trans Am develop over the past several years under Tony Parella’s leadership, getting stronger each season. The cars always looked like they would be a nice challenge to drive and there’s plenty of solid competition with a good mix of veterans and young up-and-comers. I did a race late last summer at Watkins Glen and was able to get some first-hand experience. Based on that, I started looking hard at running a program myself in 2018.

CD Racing's season just kicked off this weekend at Sebring International Raceway and will compete in a total of 11 races for the 2018 season.
