A New Paltz man employed as a general cashier was arrested after he allegedly stole over $4,000 from his former employer.

New York State Police at Highland charged 26-year-old Liam B. Farrell, of New Paltz with 3rd-degree grand larceny and 1st-degree falsifying business records, felonies.

In early March an employee at Mohonk Mountain House, in New Paltz, contacted State Police regarding a former employee who allegedly stole over $4,000 in cash from a safe at the residence.

Authorities say an investigation revealed that over a one week period Farrell, who was employed as the general cashier at the time, altered the financial records of the business in an attempt to hide the larcenies he was committing.

Farrell was arraigned at the Town of New Paltz Court where he was released on his own recognizance with a return date of April 26, 2016 at 6:00pm
