A New Paltz man will soon appear on millions of TV screens as the star of a new reality show.

The Daily Freeman reports that video cameras have been following around New Paltz resident and veterinary student Dan Cimino. The filming is for a new Nat Geo Wild show called “Vet School” that follows the journey of students learning how to treat and care for animals.

Episodes were filmed at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca where Cimino is a first-year student. The show will focus on several students as they conduct their first emergency surgeries and deal with the pressure of life-or-death situations.

In this sneak-peek from Nat Geo Wild, Cimino is faced with treating a four-year-old German Shepard that is struggling to breathe.

If you want to see the weekly one-hour show for yourself, "Vet School" premieres on Saturday, September 19 at 10pm on Nat Geo Wild. And it looks like the vet students will have little time to settle in before seeing action, as the first episode has been titled "Crash Course."
