Police say the attack happened Tuesday morning at around 8 a.m., when the Booton man was out for his daily stroll.

Since the attack was completely unprovoked, officials say the raccoon probably has rabies. Police made everyone leave the Tourne County Park area while they investigated.

The man received a rabies shot at the hospital as a precaution.

Four raccoons were reportedly captured by officials and sent for testing. Results are still pending.

The park has reopened, though officials are urging everyone who see normally nocturnal animals out during the day to call the police.
