It's a tradition every summer in the Hudson Valley, going to the Dutchess County Fair in Rhinebeck. The rides, shows, entertainment, livestock, exhibits and the food make it an enjoyable way to spend a summer day. In fact, the Dutchess County Fair is known for being a food fair.

This year, something new and exciting is being added to the fair schedule and it's all about the food. Get ready for the SporkRun and SporkAward contests, which will pit food vendors against each other to introduce the best new, or unusual, food item.

The SporkRun is a people’s choice contest with fair goers voting for their favorite Spork entry on the soon-to-be-released Dutchess Fair app. The SporkAward is a judged contest and will run Tuesday through Friday of the Fair, August 23 through August 26, with judges from Rhinebeck Bank, media sources and the Fairgrounds’ food committee selecting the top Spork!

As of this writing, there are 35 entries for the two contests ranging from beverages, desserts, dinners and sides. Be prepared to taste some amazing food that just may surprise and delight you. Once the Dutchess Fair's new app is available, it can be downloaded and then let the Spork fun begin!
