A new documentary on the residents of Newburgh is coming. Dmitri Kasternine's photographs of various faces can be seen on the Liberty Street side of the Ritz Theater. They've hung there since 2012. Some of these people were featured in his book, Newburgh: Portrait of a City. Next month, he will put the finishing touches on a documentary film that revisits many of those people he photographed for the book.

I could do this also because I spoke funny, I was too old to be a policeman and I never really talked very much. But then I thought, they’re rather interested in me, and they’re also rather interested in being interested in.

The Times Herald Record says that Kasternine has a producer for the documentary and is looking to finish this fall. He has been raising money through a Kickstarter to help fund the $15,000 estimated cost to finish shooting.

Their stories were very dramatic because they consisted of imprisonment, drug addiction, violence, poverty and unemployment. All the things that we know are going on here but don’t hear enough about
