Yesterday, New York State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II announced there will be Trooper exams later this fall. The exams will be held on October 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th at several locations across the state and applications are being accept now at their website www.nytrooper.com.

Applications must be sent in by September 1st 2017. If you're thinking about taking the exam just know that the New York State Troopers are looking for adults at least 20 years of age and are a US citizen. Applicants must be able to pass the Physical Ability Test which consists of sit ups, push ups and a one and one half mile run. Other requirements to take the exam include but not limited to having 60 college credit hours at an accredited college or university( 30 credits may be waive if the applicant has prior military experience), availability to  work rotating shifts any day of the week, including holidays and completing a full medical exam.

Starting salary for a New York State Trooper is $53,993 and after graduating the NYSP Academy $71,712. For more information on the New York State Police Exam call  1-866-NYSP-EXAM.
