My Lost Treasure: The Monkees

Did somebody say train songs?  This was always a favorite of mine...and yes, I do love The Monkees.  Today's song was their first hit.  It was written and produced by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart.

I've been listening to this song for more years than I care to admit. But, it wasn't until recently that I found out what the song is about.  It's about a young man going off to fight in Vietnam.  Of course...it makes perfect sense to me now.  I can't believe I never figured that out on my own.  I saw it on a television interview.

So, the transportation/train theme continues with one of the first train songs I ever knew.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and Happy Father's Day!
